Ambassador of Ireland to Nigeria, ECOWAS, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Benin and Togo

From Ireland's resident embassy in Abuja, Ambassador Ryan represents Irish interests across West Africa, with concurrent accreditation to Ghana. His role reflects the depth of the Ghana–Ireland relationship that Friends of Ireland Ghana exists to strengthen — through culture, education, enterprise, and shared public life.

26 years based in Ghana and working throughout West Africa, Cillian was appointed Honorary Consul in 2026 prior to which he worked for the Diplomatic Service, Political and Risk Advisory Consultancy and enjoys growing & roasting coffee.

Brendon has experience across West Africa and has a background in Financial Services, FMCG and currently at the forefront of AI development in Ghana. Avid rugby fan and still waiting for Wicklow to win the All Ireland.

Backed by a degree from the University of Ghana, Rose is instrumental in the functions of both Friends of Ireland and the Honorary Consul's Office. A fantastic administrator and organiser and also a passionate advocate of social justice issues in Ghana. Until recently unaware that Wicklow had never won an All Ireland.
